Your main challenge will be finding a 5 BR house to actually rent. Sydney rental vacancy has been low (< 3%) in many areas for years now.

Check out domain.com.au and realestate.com.au to get an idea of what's out there.

Self-storage costs vary depending on the size of room you get and for how long. Try looking at this site to get an idea (www.kenards.com.au).

You could try to get credit once you have some money in an AU bank account (probably easiest to get it from the same bank you have the account with). Once you have your first credit card your next one is easier.

As an AU citizen you might already have a credit file so it's probably easier for you to get it.

I am an Aussie citizen and my wife is English, we are moving back to Australia after 20 years of abscence.

Since I will be ariving before my container with all our stuff, what are our chances of renting a 5 bdroom house without jobs.

Also how long does it take to get credit in Australia, and does anyone know of a website with the criteria needed for credit when we get there.
