Just would like some info on renting a place in australia,

As in can i do it from new zealand or do i have to do it over there?

Do we need to be employed to rent a house first?

Thankyou:)

Hi there,

Welcome to the forum.

I have known people secure a rental whilst still overseas, just a bit more paperwork need is all. But, the quality of rentals here can be appalling. I certainly wouldn't want to sign a rental agreement for a year without seeing it first.

No, you don't need to be employed, but it helps! You will need to show you have money to cover the bond and rental.

Thanks Dolly much appreciated
Been searching the net for days about moving over there and have read on some sites that you need to be employed.

I have been looking at furnished long term holiday homes to we find something else when we get there. I think that is our best bet at the moment.

When looking for a rental, you have to apply and be accepted? is that right?

Put in your application and paperwork online and tell the agent that a friend of yours checked it out for you. As for not being employed, I was in the same boat and I secured a place by paying for 3 months rent upfront.
