Hi all,

First post. We are currently in the process of figuring out how to move to Sydney.
We are moving from San Francisco and will be down in Sydney in the fall. Work is in the center of CBD.
Most questions we have are around kids...
We have two 6 and 8 year old ones and we are looking for a very good private school as well as a nice places to live. Budget wise we are thinking of keeping it around 2000 per week.

Which areas are nice with good schools?

How much are you thinking about spending for private school? "Very good" could be between 9-20k for that age range. Most of the VG ones are ones you will need to drop off the children...no school buses, so if both parents work they will need to be near work. Peak hour driving time could take 45 minutes to travel 5 km or less.....this would severly limit your options

That is much cheaper then school here so 20k is fine. Wife doesn't work and would do the shuttling of kids around.

Most expats favour the lower north shore areas and eastern beaches. A lot of the prestigious private schools are in the lower north shore. With a budget of $2,000/week to spend on rent, I can't imagine you'd have too much trouble finding something nice in desirable areas like Mosman and Cremorne.
