Removals - Ball park figures

Hi there,

I have been in touch with two of the companies listed on the Sticky re. removals.

One answered straight away and was very nice, the other took 5 days to respond and when she did, well, she forced me to hang up she was just so awful.

I have had a search for posts about removals and see some of you have managed to ship containers at fairly good prices.

Forgive me if this question is asked all the time, and I've failed to see the answers, but..

Please, I would be so grateful for some ball park figures..

What container size did you use?
What roughly did you get into it?
How Much did it cost?
What Company?
Did you like?

I'd be so, so grateful for any info at this stage.

The company that rang and upset me, the lady kept on about what my budget was, in all honesty at this stage of the game, I don't know, I was hoping she would shed some light on that, but alas.

Thanks in advance guys.

Hi

if you are looking at very recent figures, sattystevens can help you, search for her and leave a message or reply to one of her posts and ask her to write here so that everyone can benefit from it.

they just moved to brisbane and used movers for their stuff.

When we moved to France we were told that White Goods just don't travel well and are best left, that's what we did, buying new when we arrived. So I haven't even thought of including white goods for our move to Oz.
Thanks for the info Guys.

I have had one quote in today from Doree Bonner and it's 3879.00 GBP for 578 cubic feet. Based on a "shared container" and excluding marine insurance which is quoted at 3% of fee plus tax.

Quote is for them to pack and unpack. The removal will be based on when they have a lorry in our region of France, which is fine with us if we allow some leeway.

I'll post when I get other quotes as I am sure it will be useful to folks on the forum )
Hiya, we used Crown Relocations and highly recommend them. The service was brill and the packers when they came made it so stress free. They have offices all over so don't use a middle agent and the price includes the customs inspection fees so nothing extra to pay (unless there's a quarantine/fummigation issue)

we paid:

350cuft charged @ £2250
Insurance to be charged @ £468.25
Total to be charged @ £2718.25

We didn't take furniture or tv's and looking at the prices in the shops in QLD i'm glad we didn't as the money we saved has bought us new stuff to suit the new house. The Tv's are cheap as we've gone to a shop called The Good Guys and they give really good deals and discounts if you're paying outright. we got a 42inch Panasonic Plasma from $1399 to $970, to me that was a very good deal and because we were buying alot of stuffthey threw in delivery for free, normally thats approx $60.

xx Satty
To cut down the marine insurance by nearly half, have a look at Letton Percival - Welcome To Letton Percival

Dolly
Thanks Dolly & Satty all this info is so helpful.

We are now just waiting for our animals to be granted their AQIS Import License, once we get the date of expiry we can book shipping, flights and accommodation. It still seems very unreal at this stage.

Having already left the UK to live in France, you'd think it would feel quite real, but somehow with Oz it seems like a much bigger adventure - can't wait )

Hope you are settling in Bozone & Satty, it is so cool to follow the posts as your dreams turn into a reality. Wishing you well.

Thanks for this info, very useful indeed. I wondered do you have a non 0800 number for PSS as I cannot get through to them from France using the 0800 number on their site.

Hopefully,
