Hello,

Can anyone recommend a good removal company from UK (SE London) to France (Ardeche)? And any companies to avoid?

Also, does anyone have an idea of what sort of cost should I expect moving the contents of our 2 bedroom flat to Ardeche? (2 double beds, 1 couch, wardrobe, 2 tables, 1 cupboard, 2 large chests of drawers, baby cotbed, a piano, 2 armchairs plus lots of books, kitchen stuff, clothes etc - not taking fridge or anything like that though!)

One company (Britannia) has told us that we need to get insurance but I would have thought that the company should be insured for any goods that they move - am I being completely naive?! Do we need to get extra insurance?

I used GB Liners who were very good - they knew what they were doing and were very efficient. It cost me, I think, £1200 for a roughly similar volume and distance. (I did get a cheaper quote from someone else but I wasn't totally comfortable.) I was not told I should get separate insurance, and I have a feeling GB Liners said they had their own insurance.

We have decided to go with GB Liners, they were the best quote we got and have insurance included. I think the prices have gone up across the board, we're paying just under £4000...

Wow. Perhaps mine (£1200) was so much less because it was a part load (they were delivering to someone else in the area as well). But I can't see why prices would have gone up.
