Reloctaing to WPG

Hi everyone,
Greetings from Singapore!
My family and I are relocating to Winnipeg soon in April. We are from Switzerland but leave in Singapore at the moment. We are very excited to discover your province. We use to leave in Quebec, (Mont-Tremblant) many years ago and we have good memories about it. Nevertheless, I still feel a bit anxious with our move since we have read and heard different points of view regarding the city (crime and gangs). We are thinking to enrol our daughter (8 years old) to a French school since it is our mother tongue. If you have any details or have yourself your kids in one of the DSFM’s school I would appreciate to know a bit more on it. Having say that, is there any neighbourhood we totally need to avoid when looking for a home. I know about the “ North end” any other place? We are also seeking for a short term (1to 2 months) rent upon our arrival April 1st (condo/apartment/house 2bedrooms).
