Hi all,
My husband and I are planning to move to Cyprus next year. We’re looking at areas in and around Paphos, could you please share your thoughts on Kato Paphos, Kissonerga and Chloraka?
Any info and pluses or negatives welcome! Thanks

These questions are always difficult to answer as one person‘s meat tends to be another person’s poison. However, my thoughts are that Kato Paphos whilst close to the harbour, the town centre and the Mall is too ‘touristy’ for my liking. It’s a nice enough area and the developments are immaculate, but there are many holiday homes there many of which lie empty for much of the year and consequently some attract burglars. Other holiday homes within the developments are short term lets and can be noisy when occupied by tourists who are here to party. Kissonerga, whilst classed as a village, covers a fairly large urban area including the coast road with many hotels and tourist shops. However, there are some nice areas of Kissonerga further inland which I would recommend. Chloraka is similar in that it covers a large part of the coast road with consequent hotels and tourist shops. It is next door to Kissonerga, but much closer to Paphos. It does have a village ‘feel’ to it with some nice tavernas and shops in the centre. Of the three places mentioned, Chloraka would be best in my opinion. However, we live in Polis and as ashie7 has suggested, it‘s a truly lovely place to live and covers all bases for Letitia and me. We certainly wouldn’t want to live anywhere else in Cyprus.

Thank you both for your reply. It’s very helpful. Especially regarding holiday accommodation in touristy areas - I hadn’t thought of that.
We had also been looking at Emba, but were slightly put off by reports of church bells and barking dogs disturbing the peace!
I think we shall do some more research to aid our exploration when we come in March/April. I’m interested in seeing Polis and areas around there now too.
Thanks again for your help.
Best wishes and Happy Christmas 🎄
