I’m planning to relocate to Kuala Lumpur within the next year to be with my Malaysian wife, who has a stable job and owns a lovely apartment in the city. We’re both in our early-30s, and I’m moving to start a family together.
A bit about me: I’m a British citizen currently working in Canada as a data analyst/engineer, with 10 years of experience across the UK, Australia, and Canada. I earn over 30,000 MYR a month, have around 500,000 MYR in savings, and will be moving on a spouse visa. While I’ve visited KL briefly, I’ve never lived in Asia and only speak English. I’m keen to integrate and adapt to life in Malaysia but am struggling to picture what my day-to-day life might look like.
