I'm going to Chapala tomorrow (Wed) to register my FM3. I've written down all the instructions from RVGringo as to exactly what to do when I get there....thank you very much RVGringo. Only one quick question, I currently speak only a little Spanish - will it be necessary to take a Spanish speaker with me?

Not necessary. The agents speak varying amounts of English. You'll be just fine and there will be other expats there to point you in the right direction.
