ENIC-NARIC France - CIEP

In the information section for the forum, the above link was provided as a resource for those moving to France. Has anyone gone through the process of recognizing a foreign diploma in France? Anyone in the field of Education?

If anyone has information on the recognition of Non-EU diplomas as well, it would be greatly appreciated.

France does not engage in diploma equivalences apparently but it does give what is called "une attestation de comparabilité". The website says this about the "certificate of comparability":

L’attestation est utile pour :
• poursuivre des études dans un établissement d’enseignement français si celui-ci en fait la demande,
• appuyer les démarches de recherche d’emploi et faire valoir le diplôme étranger auprès d’un employeur si la profession envisagée n’est pas réglementée.

Specific details here.

To be honest, the only times I've ever heard of anyone getting formal recognition of their diploma in France has been either for admission to an academic program or in a few cases for some of the medical-related professions (specifically, psychology) where equivalencies are difficult to determine (like, does a degree in physical therapy qualify if you want to be a kiné in France?).

For most regular employment situations, the potential employer either recognizes the foreign diploma or takes it on faith, based on your interview.
Cheers,
Bev
