Hello, I have registered on behalf of my mother. Her and my dad have lived near Chateaubriant for about two years. Sadly, my dad died unexpectedly a few weeks ago and my mum is now out here on her own.

I am trying to find out about other English-speaking people in the area as she really doesn't know many people at all and Im worried about her living in isolation.

Please contact me if you or someone you know lives in the area (44) or if you know of any English speaking groups. My mum is a very sweet lady in her sixties and would love to meet some English-speaking people.

Many thanks,

J

It's not exclusively anglophone, but she should definitely check out the local AVF in Chateaubriant avfchateaubriant - AVF Châteaubriant

They held a franco-anglaise session last year to unite French speakers wanting to practice their English with English speakers just learning (and wanting to practice their) French.

On the website there's a phone number she can call - or she should go to the address (on the left side of that page) on a Wednesday afternoon between 2:30 and 5:00. They don't seem to keep up their website real well (not uncommon amongst the AVFs - often they just don't have many web-savvy members) but it's a great way to get to know a few folks in the area and find out what sorts of activities are going on.
Cheers,
Bev
