Question about Carte Vitale process

Greetings everyone,

One month ago we received letters saying we had been approved for our Carte Vitale. This week we received the follow up letter about creating our Ameli account. The letter says “It’s simple and easy.”

However, when we go to Ameli to create the account we get this message "Your current situation does not allow you to immediately create your ameli account. Please: Contact your health insurance fund".

Elsewhere we have read that you have to wait 7 to 10 days before creating the account. Has anyone else run into this situation?

I think you mean you were approved into the system. the carte vitale is the physical card to use later and this has a separate process either you receive a form to fill and return it with a photo and a copy of your ID (passport for example) then when you receive the card in 2-3 weeks you can use this to create you AMELI account using the number printed on the card (card serial number plus your securite social number)
The other method which is very simple, call the CPAM (or if you are near an office just pass by them), ask for help to open ameli account, you will be given a numerical passcode which you will use online after pressing 'mot de passe oblie' ... this is as if you forgot the password and the code will just get you in where you will re-initialize a new password and you are ok ... then from inside your account you can demand the carte vitale, upload the photo and needed documents .... which is faster and more efficient than waiting for the paper form.

Thank you for your response. Maybe they are doing it differently now. We received the form to order the Carte Vitale and on that form it specifically says to open the account at Ameli.fr to upload our information to process the Carte Vitale. That is where we get the error message. It does not ask for a password. I will call CPAM as you and others have suggested. Take care.

We had exactly this issue and, as Mohsel says, it was easily resolved with a call to CPAM. In our case, I called their English-language helpline - 09 74 75 36 46 - and they gave me the password. Your social security number probably already appears on the letters you've received.

Yup, we will call CPAM. My wife had her CPAM approval in 9 days from submitting her initial application, which has to be some sort of record. Mine was 4 months. There’s no living with her now. :)
