Hello to everyone, Im new to this forum. My name is Federico and I'm an Italian chef, I live in Australia since 2011.

I was browsing the immigration website to have a better understanding of how points are calculated and I came across few things I don't really understand.

A bit of background, I've completed an Advanced Diploma in Hospitality, this includes also Certificate III and IV in Commercial Cookery.

Immi website says:
-----

Qualifications
- A diploma or trade qualification completed in Australia points 10
- An award or qualification recognised by the relevant assessing authority for your nominated skilled occupation. points 10

Australian study requirement
- At least one degree, diploma or trade qualification from an Australian educational institution that meets the Australian study requirement. points 5

-----

ok now... my adv diploma is considered as " A diploma or trade qualification completed in Australia", I get my 10 points...

Will I be able to also claim these extra 5 points using the Certificate III or IV as well? or is pure madness what I'm saying?

I miss 5 points out of 60 to be able to lodge my EOI, I'm considering the NAATI accreditation as interpreter but if I can avoid to spend another 1000$ I'll do so.

Got IELTS 7 overall but my writing doesn't go over 6... not really a writer, so I give up on that, tried 5 times already eheheh

Hope someone will help me to make some clarification on this matter.

Thank you!

Try PTE. Writing is much easier there. You will be surprised how much you get there.

This might help: http://www.expatforum.com/expats/12015801-post16349.html

The 5 Australian study points is quite detailed but if you studied in Australia in a 2 years degree or such, then you can claim it. Have a look: https://www.border.gov.au/Trav/Work...l-Skilled-Migration-applications/2-year-study

Also, is your skill in MLTSSL ? Else you will need a state nomination for PR invite.
