Hi,
We have been told by a visa agency that we will need around 60,000 AUD in the bank to be successful in getting a 176 visa. Can anyone tell me if there is any way around this as while we will still own a house in Ireland, that would be considered an asset, we would not have that amount or anywhere near it in our bank account. Also does this rule also apply for a 175 visa? Thanks in advance.

Agents sometimes make up their own rules....
I didnt show a single penny; nor was I asked by DIAC to show proof of funds...
A lot of members here will say the same...

Does that not depend on what state you are applying for sponsorship to? If the poster is only able to apply to states that require proof of funds it may be true. But where is you would be looking for sponsorship Gary?

Hi ,
I got informal job offers from companies based in Queensland,NSW and possibly Victoria. I wanted to go for a 175 visa but agent says I was short on points and needed the extra 5 that I would get by being state sponsored.

Electricians are not on the wanted list for Queensland so I believe she was basing my application on Victoria, where they are on the list.

Got an email from agent saying I would need 15-20k in the bank for main applicant and 10k for each secondary applicant (4), to prove to the state we were self sufficient.

Do you know if I would need to show funds in the bank on a 175 visa?

Agent was allowing 10 points for English exam and if I did better than that and got 20 then I presume I could still go for a 175 visa?

Also, if you travel on a 176 visa for Victoria but before you get there, want to accept a job offer in say,Queensland,is it possible to change?

Thanks !

No you dont need to show funds on a 175 but if you have a job offer why are you not going for an employer sponsor?

You really shouldnt get state sponsorship for one state having no intention to live there knowing you have a job offer elsewhere. If Victoria knew this they wouldn't sponsor you and you cant swap between states because you're not in demand in Queensland.

Didnt want to go for an employer sponsored visa because anything can happen to one individual company between now and my arrival,or even after I get there.
Will have my partner and 3 young kids with me so I didnt want to be relying on one company in case it didnt work out for whatever reason.
I have heard some bad reports of companies not turning out to be what was promised and I dont want to risk that happening.
Also,I didnt say I had no intention of living/working in Victoria if that happened to be the state that sponsored me. I was trying to ask if you are in or on the way to Victoria on a 176 visa and receive a job offer from another state, is it possible to change?
There is every chance I could end up settling in Victoria, just want to look into all the what ifs.
Thanks again
