Hi All ,

I have applied to 175 Skiled independent visa on Jan 15th and at the time
of lodgement my skill was in CSL ( Java Specialist) .. Earlier 175 CSL applications
were at the 3rd in the processing priority list and now its being pushed to 4th position in the
priority list... Question is should I wait adn let the 175 CSL to take it its own time or
should I go for the 176 SS as it is bit faster ? .. But earlier the processing diffrence between
175 and 176 was just 2 months would it be same now ? suppose in my case if i go for SS it would take
another 2 - 3 months to get the SS and then it will come to Pipeline . Please advise me.

Thanks

my suggestion would be to apply for ss, let 175 be processed the way it is, once you have the ss, (in 2-3 months) you can decide if u want to convert to 176 or stick to 175. by then there will be more clarity about new SOL and timeline

I don't want to miss any available paths now and starts cribbing later for it .. .. Are all states charge for SS or only ACT charges ? could you clarify it please

I appreciate the opinions and views of all 175 CSL applicants who haven't assigned CO yet . How you guys are coping with new changes as processing priority is pushed down .

Hello Ozaspirant,

I have spoken to my agent and he said i should not be worried about any changes of the processing priority, I was actually going to apply the same day when the changes came through, and I was hesitating and called my agent then he said it should not be a problem as far as I am on CSL (electrical engineer) , also as far as my job is on the professional list (which is not currently the target of the Australian government as they are targeting trades qualification applicants) it may still remain on the new SOL.

Also it sounds logical, because the numbers applying independently will decrease remarkably when many trades will no longer be able to use that route, so even if the priority processing has changed but the numbers are lower.

I think I will still go for 175.

Good Luck for all,

Regards,

M. Omar

Hi Omar ,

Thanks for your updates , I am concerned about the processing priority because of 2 reasons one is due to sudden downgrade of processing priority and other one is they do have to look for those Pre 2007 Sep applicants in this year it self .. So there would be many number of applicants who are in 175 category from pre 2007 sep will get quicker processing of applicants as AU ministry has kept the cap of certain number and remaining have to be rejected in this year it self ..... So obviously CO's are busy with pre loaded things and would like to take things as mentioned in the order of priority ... so I am also in same confusion as u after the new changes ..whether or not to go for SS

Thanks

if you really want to stay in the state, go for ss, if u cant make up your mind and are not sure about a particular state then stay put. Come April everything will change. No one can comment on what happens next

Hi Guys ,

First of all thanks for Anj and all others who are promptly replaying to posts here , Here really I am in a big delimma about weather to go for SS or not , Since I lodged my application in jan 15th (CSL +MODL - Java Specialist - When I lodged my application I was having all together 130 points including MODL ) and I understand the recent changes as well . When it comes to applying SS I am in a delimma some time I think of applying to SS and some time not , that too after tracking some of the time lines for CO assignment . In beupdate portal I noticed that quite a number of December applicants started getting CO so they are processing too fast and it is a good sign . also if I apply SS now it is going to take not less than 2-3 months by that time I may get CO . can any body help me how to come out of this.

Well, you are not really affected by the Feb changes, You will be affected as and when they take off CSL which wont happen for next 2-4 months. What you can do is, apply for the ss anyways, If at all you manage a CO before you get ss grant, good for you, if you dont, you will get ss in a couple of months anyways which will get you a CO faster.

As fr points, it is as on lodgement date, after that it doesnt matter if changes slash your points by half.

Hey ppl, I applied 175 visa in May 2009 , was in priority 5 for all these years. I recently got Sponsorship from NSW and this morning NSW SS dept has submitted the approval(1100) to Diac. My advocate will contact the Diac to move my 175 into 176 type. My question is how many days/months does the Diac team take to change my 175 into 176? I guess once it gets moved to 176 pool, a CO gets allocated in 4 weeks of time. please reply.
