Hello all, I am looking for advice or opinions on possible retirement to Cyprus.

I live in Cyprus for a number of years in 1999 and loved the island. My husband is keen to possibly look to relocating there when he retires. A brief background is that my husband will be 49 when he retires with a lump sum payment of approximately £120,000 and a yearly pension of around £19,000.

We are seriously considering a move to the island but am aware since being now in the EU things have changed but we would not be looking at getting a mortgage if we did move.

Please help :D

Thanks

Just weather it would be a wise investment to purchase property in Cyprus, and weather we would live off the husbands pension over there. Been a while since have visited and I only rented when I lived there.

I would come and rent on an extended holiday to help you with the decision. As you are still spring chickens then I think that you would need to look at healthcare as you will not qualify for the state system.

I still would not advocate buying here for all the reasons in previous threads.

You could certainly live comfortably on your husbands pension.
As for the rent or buy debate, as long as you make sure you buy a resale with full title deeds you are safe and there are many bargains out there now. But you need to do your homework thoroughly in relation to areas etc.
I would not advise buying a new build from a developer as far too many of them are in financial trouble.
The important thing is TITLE DEEDS.
