I am having trouble finding this information on the internet so I thought I'd ask here.

I have recently got 2 speeding ticket (35 in 30 zone) but I am driving on my Canadian license. My plan was to exchange my Can license for a UK on before the end of the year.

my question is, does anyone know if the points you get from while driving on a foreign licence follow you to your new UK licence? I've been offered the speed awareness course and I am trying to decide if its worth missing a day of work for it.

I have a feeling they keep them on file for if/when you exchange to a UK licence. Can anyone confirm?

thanks in advance!

I can't find anything on points carrying over on the Gov UK website, but it does look like in the UK there's a designation between speeding points and other points, whereas here in Canada (or at least Ontario) demerit points are demerit points. I don't have my licence at all, so my route to getting my licence in the UK will be very different from yours.
