Hi Experts,

I'm exploring option to migrate to Australia. I have 15 yr of experiance in Information technology project management and I'm CISM (Certified Information Security Manager) certified.

is this skill acceptable in Australia, if yes then what is the process to move forward and how must this cost in total.

thanks.

Hi Ravi

check the immi.gov.au for skill list, the other useful links are there in the sticky threads towards the top of the main forum page.. Once you are done with checking if your skill is in the skill list, check which assessing authority will assess you, for IT related skills it is ACS btw. then do a point test, if you manage the mandatory 65 points then take it further, if it is less then explore options like state sponsored visa or employer sponsored. point test is the beginning.

total cost is vis fee which is i think $2500-2600 (cant recall the exact figure), then the assessment fee which is i think $400-500 (check ACS and immi site for the exact figures). if you qualify for state sponsorship (each state has a skill list that they sponsor) and if the state charges an amount then the fee for state sponsorship (I know ACT charges for sure). in a nutshell i'd say $3500 including the notorizing, scanning, printing, gathering other paper work plus the courier charges. if you want to take help of a migation agent then add to it another $2500+

Hope this helps

And ofcourse, Welcome to the Forum :)

Cheers

anj, thank you detailed explanation for costs.

I have two more questions (answer makes questions :) )
1. Do you suggest to take a help from migration agent ? If yes which agent should I prefer in Australia or in my home country ?

2. Does it take such a long time that in your signature ? Looking at your process milestones I see almost 3 years of time.

Thanks,

Kemal

check seek.com.au, everyone applies for jobs from there, you can manage a job easily in a month in IT sector provided you know the communication bit well :). no offense but the interviews are based purely on that, they see how confident you are and how well you manage tasks. and then they add in a few things like what all hv u worked on etc etc.. my husband got a job in a month, it was frustrating initially, he gave 2 interviews (employer interviews) and met i think 5-6 consultants. first job is lower profile than what you have worked in, next one is usually at par.

we used an agent's services but it is not that you can not do without one. a lot of people, infact most of them in the forum do it on their own :)

no it deos not take this much, there are ways of getting here fast, in our cse i think it was destiny, we got married adn started the procedure adn we came here after we had a baby.. it has a lot to do with timing, our agent goofed up a bit, that is when i got really active and made my decisions and just requested him to do it my way. and then there were so many changes, during the economic slow down, the introduction os critical skill list and then they were granting visas with sponsorship only to those who were in CSL etc etc.. but it was all worth it :)

welcome to the forum...

15 years of experience!!!!!:)
that sounds awesome..
you will need to check on Department of Immigration & Citizenship whether your occupation is in the SOL list...
as anj1976 said; you need to get assessed by the relevant dept for your qualification and education...

Australian PR Enquiry

Hi Friends,

I am looking for PR to Australia for me and my husband. I am a graduate and have a work experience of 7 plus years in IT MNC. Could you please guide me step by step how to apply for PR. Also what will be the total amount required in INR till the visa is granted and how is the job market for IT in Australia and do I need to consult any consultancy who will help me in the process, or can do by my own.

Appreciate your response.

Thanks.
