Hi,
we are in the last stages of moving to Australia. We are flying our dog out of San Francisco. Qantas has advised us that the only company they will use is "Pet Express Animal Transport" based out of san fran. Has anyone had any experience with this particular company good or bad?.
-thanks in advance Tom :plane:

Hi Tom,

I am in San Francisco too and awaiting my visa also. I'm surprised to hear that Qantas will only deal with one Pet Transport company. I spoke with them and was under the impression that we could take care of the transportation of the dogs ourselves. We do not plan on using any company. So I would assume using any other company would be ok too. Who did you speak with at qantas? was it corporate? or did you speak with qantas cargo at SFO?

Mat

Hi Mat,
my wife made the call, but from what i can gather, she first spoke to corporate, who redirected her to San Francisco Cargo. She was told that you can fly dogs yourself on qantas but not out of San Francisco, for example L.A. would of been fine, but as we want the dog to only take a direct flight that wasn't really a option for us. We however did not try other airlines and they may have different polices.
we have done nearly the whole dog process ourselves, so we just got a quote for the flight, certificate "b" vet check and seal. As we hadn't started the RNATT early enough my wife had planned to fly back and get the dog so the price difference isn't too big,
i was just curious if anyone else had used these guys

Just spoke with the Qantas folks regarding this. They require the use of Pet Express because the Cargo facility at SFO is run by Singapore Airlines, and this is one of their requirements. If it was a Qantas facility, then we wouldn't have had that problem.

Guess thats something else i'm going to have to pony up for.
