Check with your vet in France. They seem to have brochures in the waiting room about pet insurance. But it depends on the age of your dogs. You have to have them signed up by the time they reach the cut-off age (or that was the deal last time I looked). For cats the age is 8. May be the same or perhaps a little younger for dogs.

Not worth taking out IME.

See what your local vet would charge for consultations, problems, etc before taking it out.

Vets fees are generally a lot lower than UK, if you stick the money you would have spent on premiums into your bank for the 'inevitable big one' you'll probably break even.

I have 6 cats, 7 dogs, and didn't take out the insurance. I've broken even over the last 3 years.
