Hi

I am expecting my visa within next couple of months (unless they change the law again). However, my passport is expiring in April 2010, and I am hoping to be there in June 2010. I came to know that it is possible for me to travel with a new passport whilst having the visa label in the old passport. My questions are as follows,

1. If I obtain a new passport and submit the details to DIAC will it delay my application processing ?

2. How much would it cost if I am to have the visa labeled again in my new passport subsequently?

My time-line is as follows
ASCO - Accountant
Paper application - Feb08
Law changed and had to do IELTS for CSL
Submitted new IELTS - Dec09
Submitted Med and Police ( not requested though)

Thank u in advance

Can you get a new passport in advance of April? In the UK you can apply for it in advance and they'll add the extra months onto the length of the passport.

Then you can get the visa put in the new one - would save a load of hassle in the future!

you can get your pp renewed 12 months prior to it expiring date. That is the rule in most of the countries. Once you get the new pp, inform DIAC about it (if not got the visa yet) by filling form change of circumstances form (i guess its 1022). if you do get the visa before that, and have the stamp/label already on the old pp, just carry the old pp with you when you travel, else you have an option of getting the new pp stamped again. the charges are minimal. in India i think its INR 200-400.
