Hi there,

One of my friends want to apply as a principal applicant for subclass 189/190. He is a software engineer. He wants to know what partner documents he'd have to submit apart from having her personal details included in the forms he fills.

Just so you know he doesn't wish to claim any points for his wife...

Advice please,
G

Thanks Sameer,

What can be shown as an evidence for have competent English?

Do you mean she has to take IELTS and score an overall of 4.5 even though he doesn't intend to claim points for her? My friend thinks she may find it a little difficult getting that score in the very first attempt.

Any other options/ways to consider/prove the same?

Hi

there are two options to show the competency

1- If her medium of studies was english then she can get the letter from the university stating the same.

2- Alternatively she cn try her luck with PTE-A which is easier to score the required marks.

Alright thanks,

So one thing is clear right? Regardless of they wanting to claim points for her, they'd compulsorily have to take this English Exam since she is not from a English Medium University?

Also, would her degree certificates be asked/required at any stage? She has last set of exams to take due end of this month but has a 10 month old to look after. So she cannot make-up her mind to go ahead and finish her last piece of exam that will give her degree certificate or just pass on this exam since she is finding it very difficult to prepare for this exams, considering she has to devote her undivided attention in looking after her daughter.

However, if degree cert is important/required for this process than taking this exam will take precedence for her over everything else. You know what I mean?

Really appreciate your help Sameer,
G

Dependent applicants age above 18yrs need to meet at least functional English requirements:

12 years of schooling/ 3yrs Bachelors/2yrs Diploma or masters full time qualifications in English medium or IELTS 4.5 overall score.)+ additional surcharges may be applicable

Another option for this is to pay AUD 4885 towards English Tuition Fee for dependents (age 18 and over) in case they don’t satisfy English requirements. (+ additional surcharges may be applicable)

This is know as VAC2 Payment (Visa Application Charge).

Degree Certificate NOT REQUIRED, as your Friend isn't claiming partner points. Just provide the last highest Qualification proof.

Also indicate that partner is pursuing Degree, provide previous year mark sheets.
