parent visa and centrelink

Hi there

I have an appointment with Centrelink as I have to provide Assurance of Support for my mother. We are a bit worried that we may be a bit short in our earnings. Does anyone know how much Centrelink expect you to be earning?? (self employed) :(

Any help would be great :)

Hi there,

Welcome to the forum.

Here's the AOS link to the DIAC: Australian Immigration Fact Sheet 34. Assurance of Support

Dolly
Hi Tillybilly,

Let us know how you get on.

Is your Mother on a parent visa or an aged parent visa or something else? My parents are thinking about it (again) but I'm not sure how serious they are. Last time they decided to stay in the UK.

Regards,
Karen
Thank you Dolly (though, as usual, it was as clear as mud! haha)

Hi Karen

She is trying to come over on the Contributary Parent - Parent Subclass 143.

She applied back in 2008 (around May time I think). Since then, she's been waiting....and waiting..... It's so horrible when your life is on hold. I remember it well!
She has now been told to obtain police checks and complete a Health check, all the usual stuff.
My husband and I are both self employed with 2 children and don't particularly earn loads of money. We would love for my mum to come over (yes, even my husband will be pleased to see her, hahahaha), but I am beginning to get a bit anxious that we will not be earning enough for her to be accepted.

Anyway, I'll let you know how the interview went and what they asked etc...

:)
