Hi,

We are moving to the UK and I need to get some form of travel insurance. I am not fussed on medical as we are entitled to public health both in country of origin (Australia) and destination (UK). I do however want cover for tickets/delays/cancellations/car hire excess etc etc. The policies I have checked are only available to returning Australian Residents, which we will not be.
Are there any suggestions on providers who cover ex-pats during relocation?

thanks in advance for any hints.

Travel insurance is purchased in the country where you are currently resident, i.e. Australia. It's not necessary to look for anything specific to expats; just purchase normal travel insurance, it's possible your bank or credit card provider has an offer (this is how I am insured when I travel). Any short-term travel insurance will do as long as it covers what you need.

I have found that the policies I have looked at include statements such as

"policies can only be issued to Australia citizens and permanent residents who will be returning to Australia at the completion of the period of insurance and within 12 months of the journey commencing; "

and you must have a return flight.

So we would not qualify.
