Hi people, I've been in Dubai for three months now and apart from the malls I am liking it here mostly. The only thing is a lack of like-minded people to hang out with so I am sorry if this post comes across obnoxious but I have kind of gotten a bit fed up of meeting tons of people and hanging out with them only to hear some shallow, ignorant, bigoted or racist remark come out of their mouths. Therefore I would really like to meet some intelligent, worldly, cultured people who like to laugh and socialise but I could also have some in depth conversations (even debates) with. No age barrier.

A bit about me: I'm a 27 year old female working out here as a teacher, I speak English and Arabic, born in Africa but was raised in the UK. I love eating out, dancing the night away (strictly hip hop, reggae, bashment and rnb) and going for drinks in live music bars. I like watching good English-language films and even better foreign films, cooking my mama's food, entertaining and meeting people from other cultures so I can learn more about the world. I love discussing politics and religion, especially the Middle East and the UK. I'm not really into clothes or shopping or make-up...bleugh. I like going for a swim often but I am not sports/gym mad. I love world literature and I would like to discover an underground scene here of community plays, theatre, home grown bands and dive hangouts where cool people meet. I am also a bit tired of the university-like scene of going out in huge groups of people that can't really understand my slightly harsh sense of humour.

Again, I don't mean to be obnoxious. I just miss my small group of friends back in the UK and I'm hoping that I can find some similar people who can understand me and I can have a good laugh with. I do understand it takes time but I would rather be proactive and see what I can find.
