I was married in September to my British spouse who lives in France. I'm in the process of selling my house and making my way over there. I'm confused by conflicting information. (surprised?)

Do I or do I not need a visa to do so? I was under the impression I could travel on my passport and once I got over there that I could apply for a cart de sejour as a family member (vie privée et familiale).

What complicates things is that I also contacted the embassy in Altanta to get a Declaration de Changement de Residence. This is because I read I need one in order to have my belongings shipped to France and not be charged taxes. The form requests all kinds of documents that don't pertain to my situation including a visa and proof of employment.

So my 2nd question is, do I fill this declaration out? And if so, will a copy of my marriage certificate (which I now assume will have to be translated since its from the UK) be enough proof to accompany it?

Any help you can provide is much appreciated!

Thanks for your response, Bev. I'm clear on not needing a visa now. Yay! Will have to find out more about the shipping...which will be from the US.
