Hey Guys,

I am about to start my process with a consultant here in India to start my PR process for Australia.

I have 11+ years of work experience in IT.
I have a BBA from XXX University, completed in 2015.
My query is, since my graduation was completed in 2015, and I have been working since 2006. Is this something i need to worry about?
Age Score - 25
Edu - 15Experience - 0? or will 2 years from 2015 till now, be considered?
PTE - 20 (I am aiming for 20)

The gap between my 12th and BBA start is 11 years, wherein I did some certifications (i.e. Diploma in computer hardware (short term), Microsoft Certifications etc....

***My worry is, I have been told by one migration agency that I do not qualify to apply for a PR, however another said I am eligible for one***

The above has completely left me confused.

Although I understand that there is less relevance in my academics vs what i do.

I am really trying to understand what might my application look like...

Appreciate any inputs on this please...

You can't claim work exp before your education, so 11 years doesn't count.

Now BBA is not related to ICT, so you won't get 15 Education points (others correct me if I am wrong).

Now did you did diploma or something similar before 2005 ?

If you did, you can use 11 years of work exp with ACS since 2006 and ACS will subtract 6 years from it for RPL.

Now I am not sure whether ACS will accept your 11 years work exp even if you have no formal education, i.e, whether some sort of education being mandatory for RPL. You can read here: https://more.acs.org.au/__data/asse...ills-Assessment-Guidelines-for-Applicants.pdf

Other members with ACS experience can answer your query regarding RPL.

Hi

I applied through RPL for ACS because of no education related to my occupation. ACS won't touch or comment on your education until and unless you have ICT content in it and in that case you will have to do vetassess PTA. You need to check with acs guideline which diplomas and certifications are accepted to save yourself from writing the RPL report. If any of your qualification is accepted by them you might get 9 or 7 years experience after deducting 2 or 4 years for no formal education. First thing I'd suggest you to do is your ACS. Everything else will fall into their places after that. All the best.

BBA has nothing to with IT. Your education needs to be related. Lets say I am applying under engineering but wants to claim points for Bachelor in History, does that makes sense.

You can actually I am 263111. Did Acs RPL. They deducted 6 years. Got 10 years work ex. Didn't comment on my education. Then I sent my commerce and business administration degree to vetassess for PTA. They assessed it and sent me the outcome. I filled my eoi. So yea you can claim points for unrelated education.

Interesting. So, VETASSESS only assess education without occupation ?

EDIT: PTA is not binding. Its up to the discretion of DIBP to whether consider the education points or not. But I guess I am yet to know anyone who got it.

No they assess trade and general occupations too. Point test advice is basically an opinion of:

the comparative educational level of your qualifications against the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF)

your employment in your nominated occupation or a closely related occupation in the last 10 years (please note that this does not apply to Points Test Advice applications for non-VETASSESS occupations).

If any of your relevant body didn't assess your education you can always go PTA route.

So, for VETASSESS application, PTA does educational assessment based on related occupation.

The last line in bracket says it doesn't apply to non-VETASSESS occupations. So, does that mean non-VETASSESS occupations can't get PTA from VETASSESS or PTA for education of non-VETASSESS occupations doesn't need to be related ?

The last phrase for employment assessment is for occupations which are covered by vetassess as an assessing body and not for other occupations which have their own relevant assessing body like ACS or EA for example.

Vetassess PTA for education is for anyone who didn't get their education assessed from their relevant assessing bodies for any reason irrespective of their occupation being related to vetassess or not.

Hello Smarffy,

I reached out to three agencies, two of them told me I will not quality, however one agency told me that I will have to go the RPL route (which i am fine with), and can then claim 15 points for Education (BBA), 25 points for age (35 yrs) and the rest through PTE (Max score is the target) 20 points.

Plus another 5 points if i go for 190 and another 5 points if i get my wife's profile assessed by ACS and she scores in PTE too.

Based on the above, do you see a chance of me making it through?
I am going to be registering tomorrow with them, and just want to know if my profile is eligible in general, I have worked as a Systems Engineer, Senior Systems Engineer, Support Engineer for over 9 years and have been an IT project manager since the last 2 years.

However since I completed by BBA in 2015, I am told by the other two agencies who said i do not qualify, that I cannot apply as i cannot claim points, either for education or experience...

Would really appreciate any advise please....

You get only 60 points. So, unless your wife can get 5 points, you don't stand a chance. 65 is the minimum you need.

Now it looks like you will be applying under 261112 ICT Business Analyst or 261112 ICT System Analyst. If you get 2611, you will not get your invite this year (unless the ceiling is doubled- highly unlikely), most likely next year 2018-19. And no one knows if 65 will be good enough for an invite then.

If you get 262112 ICT security specialist, it's hard to tell but nothing less than 65 will get you invite.

So, don't pay 5-7 lakh now. Just get the ACS assessment done for you and your wife and then see where you stand. After that, you will know if and when you will get invite or not.

Plus not to mention you will be claiming points for degree not related. I am not sure how it works, but hope it works for you.

On the other hand, if your wife can score English 20 points and already has a related ICT degree, she can be the main applicant and apply for you guys too. So, consider that too.

Edit: If you can manage 5/10 exp points and 20 English points, you may score 70/75 and that will get you invite in any occupation code.

You will have to go through RPL route. You might get points for your experience too like after deducting 6 years you might still get 5 years work ex. And then get vetassess for your BBA. If your BBA is less than 3 years you might not get 15 points but 10 instead for associate degree. Rest is upto you. How much you score in Pte etc. Also make sure you don't claim extra points. Get everything assessed asap.

So now we have
Age 25
Exp 5 (!)
English 20 (!)
Education 15 (!)
Ss 5
Wife's skill 5

75 is a good score :) All the best.

Oh, Thank You...

Yes I'm not paying them all the money now, it will be post ACS....

So I'll have to prepare the RPL, then submit only the RPL to ACS? Once the report is out.

Then file for VETASSESS format BBA points?

Also have to get my wife to appear for PTE and get her ACS done as well?

Also they've said they would file me under 263111 Computer networks and systems engineer....which has been the majority of my work throughout my career....

You and your wife will have to go through the same thing except her education assessment is not required and she only needs 6+ in IELTS unlike you who will need 8+.

If you can manage 263111, 65 points should get you invite this year for sure if you can apply by Sept 2017.

Thank you so much for the information, I plan to submit for ACS within the next 5 days...I'm preparing for PTE and will ensure my wife also prepares for it.

In case if my wife is the primary applicant, does it need her to travel first? As that would be a concern....

Both of you can travel together. I am not sure whether you can travel before the main applicant, better ask on the visa lodge board.

If she wants to be the main applicant, she will also need 20 English points I presume. Once you get the ACS assessment done for the both of you, you will get the idea what to do next.

Yes better save your money for the later.. Start with ACS. RPL is going to be little time taking.. writing reports and all.. rest is easy. My ACS took almost a month. You can submit vetassess too along with acs to save you some time. Also ACS will advise you if they find your work relevant to any other occupation. Yes you need wife's skills assesment relevant to her occupation, it just has to be on the same list as your occupation and PTE too to claim points.

S - 90
W - 87

Enabling Skills:-

Pronunciation - 71
Spelling - 86
Vocabulary - 90
Written Discourse - 63 (I consistently got 90, every time I wrote the PTE gold kit mock tests on this one)
