Hello All,

I've enjoyed the great posts on this forum. Really good info.

I have an offer to work in the UAE for about 45,000 dbs/mo, it includes paid food and lodging close to my work, and a paid cell phone for local use. Seems like it could be a good deal, but it only includes a visa for me. Problem is I want my wife and daughter to spend a good bit of time with me while I'm here, and I'm really having a hard time getting good (understandable) info on visas. My wife is a US resident Mexican and my daughter is American. Anyone dealt with this type of visa issue??????

PS: and yes I actually meant "advice" in the post title. Sorry.

Sup Bro, all you need to do is sponsor your wife and daughter. Some companies do this for you but some expect you to do it. Call your local imigration office and ask them what you need to do to get this started.

Thanks Mr. Big. This is what I wanted to hear. I talked to the consulate about my wife getting a long term visa, but never mentioned I would be traveling as well. They seemed uninterested in helping once I stated she was Mexican. I guess my focus was to narrow.

Is the sponsorship process difficult?

Good to hear. I just read a huge and detailed post by Elphaba on visa sponsoring. Sounds like I don't need to stress so much anymore.

Say, last time I was in Dubai was back in 2000. I was here only a couple of days, but managed to find a live local rugby match and meet up with tons of expats near the clubs around the airport. Place seemed nice and not anything like the other Mid East countries. Don't read that as the Middle East is bad, but the UAE felt more western and open to others. Has it changed alot over the last 10 years?
