I understand that. 'Dear' means showing respect to somebody (irrespective of female or male).If you're going to come to Canada you must learn not to call women strangers, "dear". This is not acceptable here. Women are on an equal footing with men in Canada and take exception, and rightfully so, to being addressed in such manner.
