Hi,
I need to ship a car from Dubai to US. Can anyone help me with the shipping company info that can do this for me. I have a BMW 7 series 2012. A prompt response will be greatly appreciated as I move in Mid July 2016. Thank you.

Having worked with a number of Americans over the years this is what I've gathered:

If you want to ship a car to the US, there's nothing to stop you from doing so. But upon arrival in the US the car will need to be thoroughly tested at a specialist garage approved by US customs (at your expense, and it is not cheap, costing quite a few thousand USD). There's only a few of these garages, FYI, so it's not just at any port. If the car does not meet US specifications, you must upgrade it (costing quite a few thousand USD) or it must be removed from the country or destroyed. It will not be allowed to be driven onto US streets.

If you are successful, then there is the whole issue of obtaining insurance and future resale value. FYI I would not take anything local UAE dealerships tell you at face value about shipping cars to the US.

Everyone I know who looked into the matter ultimately decided it was more practical to sell their car in the UAE and buy another one in the US. The US is apparently very, very strict about importing cars.

The exceptions are if you brought your car to the UAE from the US, then it can be shipped back easily.

FYI I found a link from US customs and border protection website:

Even they are politely implying you to forget about it if the car was not originally sold in the US.
