Hello Gurus,
I need some help for my ACS Assessment for Developer Programmer.
Below are my details

Education : BSc(PCM) 2000
MCA IGNOU 2006
Work Experience :
IT Company XYZ : Oct 2000 - Sep 2012
IT Company XYZ : Nov 2012 - April 2016

I am claiming 15 Points for my MCA degree which is from IGNOU
and 15 Points for 15+ years of experience in IT.
Queries:
1. My MCA is from IGNOU and I did it from 2003 -2006, while pursuing this degree I was also employed full time (40 hours/Week) with an IT company.
2.I am claiming 15 years of experience.
3. While assessing will ACS consider my work experience between 2003 -2006?
4. Since my MCA was from the open university, I had the leverage to work as well, I am just wondering will ACS consider my professional experience from 2003 to 2006?

Need your expert guidance.
Thanks in Advance

I believe ACS will not consider the job experience from 2003 - 2006 as Skill Level Requirement Met Date would be after 2006 graduation .... however if degree is assessed to ICT Major you will be deducted 2 years and still end up getting maximum points i.e 15 for your experience

Kindly go through this for better understanding:

https://www.acs.org.au/content/dam/...t Guidelines for Applicants - August 2017.pdf

5 . SKILL LEVEL REQUIREMENT MET DATE

Thanks for the reply. Much appreciated.

I have got one more question if you can help, it would be great

I agree that for 2003-2006 ACS might not consider for the experience.
but what about the experience from 2000-2003? As that was before I started the MCA, so will they consider those years for my experience? I was working full time during that period and my employer has mentioned that in the letter as well.

-Thanks in Advance

Im afraid not... its like once all your education related to your job is complete then the experience will be calculated.. I may be wrong here... but in any scenario the max points for experience is 15 which I guess you will get it for sure...

All the best..let me know how it goes

Absolutely right. Example 2 on page#5 of Skills Assessment Guidelines for Applicants - August 2017.pdf explains this situation graphically and quite clearly.

Hello
Thanks for the reply.
actually I am claiming experience from 2000 - 2016
which is close to 15+ years
now after reading your response it appears that ACS will only consider experience from 2007-2016 only and it will discard the experience prior to 2006. As my MCA completion year was 2006
So the final count for experience would be close to 8 years
are there any other deductions which ACS can consider ??

I have got one more question

I am also claiming 5 points for my partner skills as well.
Do I need to get the ACS done for my partner as well???

-Thanks in Advance

If claiming partner’s point you need skill assessment. It’s mandatory.

I believe after 2006 will be considered your final graduation plus deduction of 2 years to N no.of years by ACS will be done. Whethere it is 2 years or N years will decided by ACS, but from previous posts I've seen people with MCA has been deducted 2 years, differs from case to case

For claiming spouse points you need the following conditions satisfied:

  1. Spouse needs to be less than 50 years of age
  2. Should have atleast competent English like eg.) atleast 50 in all components of PTE... Definitely need to write English exam, certificate from college will not help
  3. Should be positively assessed by relevant assessment authority eg.) ACS
Note: For ACS to give positive assessment minimum 2 years of experience is required, so only if your spouse has working experience you will get positive assessment
  4. You and your spouse should have occupation present on same list eg.) If you are a Software Engineer 261313, it is present in both MLTSSL and STSOL, so your partner's occupation can be present in either MLTSSL or STSOL, whereas if your occupation is present in only STSOL then your partner's occupation should be present in same STSOL and you cannot apply for 189, but can go for 190 VISA in the second case
