Hi folks,

My wife and I are going to apply for 189 visa, she being the primary applicant.
I was just reading this wonderful forum about internal audit (which is the work she does) and I understood that it's a highly competitive category and requires 70+ points for an invitation.

Here's our dilemma:

Wife: Computer science engineer (so no courses of audit/finance mentioned in her final college marksheet), has been working with Ernst & Young for 7 years, her work is around IT risk mitigation for her clients, we thought of internal audit as a category for her after seeing the Skills Occupation List (SOL). But now I'm confused if we should go for that.

Me: Civil Engineer + MBA, worked with a telecom major for 3 years (split equally between sales and ops/strategy). Currently working in a startup in the field of healthcare management as a COO. Confused which skill in the SOL I can show.
(We are thinking of submitting 2 EOIs, one for my wife and one for me).

Can anyone suggest what's the best way of proceeding in this situation?

Thanks so much.

Can't say about your Engineering occupation, but your wife sure is not an Internal Auditor. 2212 is accounting related occupation group. See more details here: UNIT GROUP 2212 AUDITORS, COMPANY SECRETARIES AND CORPORATE TREASURERS

With experience in ICT Risk planning, analysis, and mitigation and hopefully a few more skills, she could be eligible for ICT BA instead. See more details here: UNIT GROUP 2611 ICT BUSINESS AND SYSTEMS ANALYSTS and further more in ANZSCO-Code-Information-2017.pdf from the ACS website.

Thanks for the reply buddy.
Yeah I checked and you're right - she does fall under ICT Business Analyst.

Now say she's the primary applicant, and we want to claim 5 partner points, border.gov.au says I'll have to get my skills assessed too and my skill code should fall under the same list as hers (in this case, the medium and long-term list).

I'm just not able to figure out which skill code is the most relevant for me. Any help there?
Also is it advisable to undergo the initial assessment done by agents like Y-Axis? Do they really put in a lot of time to clarify all our doubts and tell us the most relevant job codes for us?

If you are going for agents go for MARA registered agents...they will surely help in the way you expect .... at the same time agents are bit expensive

Thanks a lot. :)
Going to undergo the process ourselves for now. Agent fees are really high.

In case you do decide to go for MARA! In future, PM Maggie

She can recommend some good MARA agents who specialise in difficult cases

Cheers
