I am a naturalist and writer looking for people interested in wildlife and the countryside here. I have been looking for info about the flora and fauna of Portugal and haven't found much because most of what is available appears to be about the Algarve area and not further north.

I am looking for good books on the subject too. So far I only have Field Guide to Wild Flowers of Southern Europe.

I am also looking for naturalist groups to join.

Can anyone help please?

Hi GreenBard !
Here's a site that you may find interesting that covers a wider area of Portugal , mostly the Alentejo but this is a vast area !
https://www.facebook.com/groups/portugalnatural/

I am located in the 'Alto Alentejo' along side the Rio Tejo and I am fortunate enough to be surrounded by wildlife 24/7 , the Birds are singing day and night , the Buzzards , Eagles and Gryphon Vultures are constantly flying around above my land and wild Boar and deer are coming to the River to drink at night and mooch around for food !

It really is a privileged location , and if you want you can see more on my new f/b page here https://www.facebook.com/tejojardim

I have some pics on an Album on here an on this Forum too !

Enjoy

Cheers
