When moving to the UK on the marriage visa did you make sure your name was changed on your passport, IDs, and forms of identification to your new married name BEFORE leaving the United States?

My mother didn't get her name change on her passport until after her passport expired and now she have to travel with the old and the new passport as her ILR visa is in the old passport. Also, she couldn't be bother to change her name on any of her social security card.
