Hi Guys,

Horrible news for me as Victoria rejected my state sponsorship application the day before

I have 70 points but they say my skills/exp does not match their criteria :(

I applied for SA immediately (in low availability) only to get an email from them yesterday informing me that the planning level for my occupation has reached ceiling :(

WA needs job offer for SOL 2 applicants

I have emailed ACT today to get my occupation verified. My occupation ID is in limited category.

Q1 - Is there any hope for me in ACT?
Q2 - Is there any chance that WA will change their requirement for SOL2 applicants in coming months and will start granting the state sponsorship without job offer to SOL 2 applicants?

Pleaseeee help me :(:(:(

I don't understand. If you have 70 points, why not go through 189?

Because my occupation is in SOL 2.
189 is only for SOL1 occupations.

from my understanding once your skill is in SOL and points is above 60 the state can sponsor you.. what's the reason for rejection? what's with "does not match their criteria"? it's like apply for a job :(

That's what I thought how it works. But sadly it doesn't.
Guess they want us to be super humans or something.

I have no idea what so ever for why they rejected my application :(

They don't need a job offer but they say my skill/exp doesn't match.
If it does not match, ACS should have rejected it in the first place.

My skill set match 100%. I work as ICT Security Specialist in India and I applied for that.

ACT also needs a job offer If I remember correctly. I suggest you to get another assessment through ACS as a Computer Network Professional. Have you done any certifications? Do you have a bachelors degree?

I have not done any security certifications. Guess that's where my CV was weak.
I have a Bachelors Degree in Computer Science.

I don't think I can get re-assessed as a Computer Network Professional because my designation in the company is "Engineer - Information Security Administrator". It has the word Security in it.
I work in core security domain. Nothing to do with Network.

Job offer requirement is not mentioned anywhere in ACT 190 guidelines but they have the following clause "To seek nomination of a limited occupation you must have the occupation verified before you lodge your application for nomination".

Does this mean they need a job offer?

DelhiBoy84, I see. I didn't realize it, sorry mate.

Good thinking AncientGlory. I think this is a good idea. A lot of security work can also be seen as networking related. For example firewalls, IDS/IPS, Linux administration, network segregation, reviewing logs and configuration, etc... I know it because a good part of my experience consists in those fields, and ACS accepted it as networking related.

Another option would be to check Northern Territory, Queensland or Tasmania. I don't know much about their programs, but maybe you can manage through the first years and then go to another state?

It does mean that VIC have their own skills verification and does not completely rely on ACS judgement which is sad. VIC should have been particular on what specific skills they need if they will not rely on ACS occupation codes.

Pointless if you are applying for 189/190 and they require job offer otherwise its 457 visa.

This wasn't the process when I applied for 190 early this year

So I just go ahead and change my CV and Occupation ID?
Will ACS not question this major change?
NT, QL and Tasmania does not have my occupation ID listed.

Should I wait for next years list for SA? I hope they do not have a super stringent process as Victoria.

I think you should justify your case with ACS and tell them that in your profession and experience you have a major part in Networking as well. If possible do a certification like CCNA (CCNP if possible) so that your claim is backed up. Also if you have got any experience after you got your first assessment, then you can probably claim those experience as experience in networking to strengthen your case.

My mate got his first assessment as a software programmer just after he finished Uni. After working for like one year as a System Administrator, he got his second assessment as a Computer Network Professional. So given the right circumstances it is doable.

I've worked in just one company :(
Guess I will have to wait for next year for my occupation ID to be available in SA again.
I hope ACT accepts my nomination :fingerscrossed:
Is there any chance WA starts sponsoring without job offer in coming months?

Sorry, but it is nothing surprising, as many of us go through similar phases. I see that you have placed EOI. I hope you get an invite soon for your occupation.

I don't know much about WA. But for ACT, it is tougher. Mostly ACT needs security check criteria which takes about 12-24 months MINIMUM. Otherwise, all those occupations are meant for Citizens of Australia.

But you can try your luck.

Best regards,
JR

So there are no jobs at all in ACT that does not requires security check criteria?
What are the chances they will nominate someone from the limited category occupation ?

Well there are very few jobs that do not require Security Checks (Say 2 or 3 whatever i have researched).

Also, the "limited category" thing needs ATLEAST 6 jobs in your occupation code, that is in demand in ACT, which DO NOT require security check and or for citizen. Thus, you need to research out from various job portals and send them the word document of advertisements (atleast 6), the link to ad, the contents of ad in word format(Remember if you print screen the ad, they will reject your application), then a short description of how you suit to that join and why it is right fit for you. Then, they will go through this and come back to you whether to proceed with your application or not.

I have seen, in few cases, like if 6 jobs don't require security check as well as not for citizens, then you will surely get nominated. Else, there is very less chance.

Best regards,
JR

Hello DelhiBoy,

I will say that you will be screwed only if your Visa is denied. Sponsorship denial cannot be a surprise as many and most of us go through same throughout the world.

The bottomline is, you have many other ways such as 189 etc. You should work for it on things such as IELTS. You want it, why don't you work and make it happen?

Well, please do not be negative, and the subject line "Sad Story" is appearing negative. Be affirmative, an affirmative thought is 100 times stronger than a negative thought.

Please go through the following websites which I have researched for you. However, you should work on what is your job prospects in your stream from these websites.

SEEK - Australia's no. 1 jobs, employment, career and recruitment site
Australian JobSearch - Australia's free online jobs board
.net Production Support jobs in Canberra ACT | Jobseeker.com.au
Jobs in Australia Capital Territory, Careers in ACT | Apply Direct
Welcome | Job Guide
Leave - Fair Work Ombudsman

All the best.

Best regards,
JR

Wow! Really shocking that a 70 pointer is outright rejected. Didn't know that few states even wants a job offer. The visa process seems to be getting tougher every day. If you are a 70 points holder, I would assume you have a lot of experience. Why not try USA meanwhile? There's a huge demand for your skill and by the time you gain some experience, probably other states will open up with more slots.
