Moving together with Spouse

Hi everyone! This is my first post on here. I am just starting my research into moving from the US to the UK and have LOTS of questions. Here is my situation:

My husband has his dual US and British citizenship through his mother, as she was born in the UK. I am a US citizen. Neither of us has ever lived in the UK, just visited for a few weeks at a time on vacation. We are planning to move in 3 or 4 months. My husband is going to apply for a job and secure one before we move but we won't have a place to live at first, probably just an Airbnb or something. We have no relatives there except a distant great aunt. So my first question is:

Can I apply for a spouse visa before we move so that we can move together?

We don't want to live apart for 6 months while he works over there. We have enough savings to qualify but the wording is confusing on everything I read - the British citizen has to be "settled" in the UK before the US citizen can apply for the spouse visa, is this true?

Thank you for your help! I am very new at this and it seems confusing!

If you are relying entirely on cash savings for the financial requirement, you can apply before moving and then move over together (you don't need to show any evidence of employment), but you will need to have accommodation sorted in the UK. I don't think AirBnB will work in this situation since they can't rent to you long-term - It would really be better if your husband went ahead of you to sort a place and get permission from a landlord or letting agency for you to live there
So I can apply for a spouse visa even if my husband does not currently live in the UK?

If so, WHEN should I apply for the visa? If I apply now and then we don't end up moving until 4 months from now, is my visa still valid?

Thank you for your reply!
Yes, you can move over together even if he's not currently living there, some people do this if they're relying on cash savings or a job offer in the UK

You choose the date you intend to move to the UK, and you can apply up to 3 months before that date. When the visa is granted, you will get a 30-day window based on your intended travel date which you stated in the application, and you can move over any time during that period

You can apply for an UK spouse visa while both your British Citizen sponsor spouse and yourself are outside of the UK if you meet one of the following -

1) You have cash savings worth £62,500 for a period of 6 months before the application. You do not need to hold the cash for 6 months if you can prove the money comes from a house sale.

OR

2) Your British Citizen spouse is working overseas with the same employer for 6 moths or more and an income of greater than £16,800 per year and he/she receives an offer of employment in the UK with an offer of >£16,800 per year within three months of his/her planned return of the UK.

You can apply for your UK spouse visa up to three months in advance. You will be given a 30 day visa if successful. You will need to come to the UK within that 30 day period to collect your BRP at the local post office.

Agree with c-o that airbnb will not be viewed as acceptable.

Your British spouse is considered settled the moment he steps foot in the UK and yes you can apply before you move as long as you can meet all the requirements, which includes having adequate accommodation set up at the time of application.
Its £18,600 per year not £16,800.

Just a small mistake from HKG3 but thought it should just be clarified.
