hi there,

I am 25 years old girl and I am planning to move to Sydney in april 2012 to improve mi english for three months. You've probably heard this question a million times before, so i apologize for asking again, but I was wondering where everybody thinks would be the best place to stay, Manly o Sydney city, given that from April to June it won't be summer. Any opinion would be very welcome, thanks

Hi Laura,

I travelled in OZ in 2010 and stayed 3 months in Manly, from early March 'till last week of May...
Manly is a lovely place to stay. I was living 1 block from the beach and surfing every day.... easy life !! Nice and safe atmosphere, good coffees and restaurants... Now, what VISA will you have ? If you want to work and have a WHV, it will be easy to find jobs, specialy as a girl, in hospitality in Manly... If you have a tourist visa, forget it, there are so many backpackers in Manly with a WHV that no restaurants/bars will take the risk... Which is different in Sydney... Well, you make your choice...

For only 3 months, and if you are not a surf addict, Maybe staying in Sydney would be mor interesting for you. Manly is only 45 mn away from Sydney Harbor by ferry boats, but still, it's a little bit far if like to go out by night.. And there are so many places to visit and/or where to have fun downtown Sydney... For 3 months, I would suggest you to find a room in a flatshare or houseshare... Really easy using Gumtree, even before going there ! It's cheaper than a Backpacker hostel, and such a good way to make contacts !

Hello!
First of all, thank you very much for your response. I’m going to Sydney to improve my english. I will be doing English classes during three months and I have to choose between an academy in Sydney city or in Manly. I want to work as well. I would have the Student Visa. I am going all alone and I am wondering If Sydney city would be too big to feel integrated. I am not a suf addict ;)
