if you fill a container (20ft or 40ft) it is usually 6-8 weeks, door to door.

If you are lucky, you might get it in 5. It all depends on when you book, and when the next ship is leaving.

If you are taking a part-load, then the timescales are a bit more up in the air, as the Company will wait until they have a full container before shipping.

20ft Container - UK to Dubai = approx GBP 3,500

We sent a 20ft container which left the UK, arrived within Dubai, cleared customs and was delivered to our new home within 4 weeks! I think perhaps we were lucky but it shows that things can very occasionally be done efficiently in Dubai!!

The actual time for a vessel to sail from UK port to Jebel Ali port should be no more than 28 days. Almost all shipping lines offer a weekly service to Dubai as it is used as a trans-shipment port for the Far East and beyond. It should therefore take no longer than 5 weeks to send a full container from door in UK, even if you load the container 6 days before the next vessel.

Once it arrives in Dubai the time for customs clearance and delivery will depend on how quickly customs grant clearance (they inspect a portion of all shipments into the UAE) and the local agent can arrange a team to unload. However, in all but the most unusual circumstances, clearance and delivery should be done within a week.

As someone mentioned above, if you are sending a part load it will take a bit longer and won't be an exact time. But if your moving company are loading at least once a month then the total time should still be no more than about 8 weeks.
