Good afternoon
I have a spanish moped which requires it's first MOT now but I will not be using it for the next 12 months or so.
Can I just ignore the reminder and MOT it when I want to use it again as long as I keep it off road.
Or is it different rules here in Spain please
Many thanks for any news
Tracey

Yes, you can keep it off the road without ITV (MOT), and without insurance and you will not be liable for IVTM (road tax). But to do this you need to do the equivalent of SORN, which here is called Baja Temporal Voluntaria.

You can do this either directly at Trafico, or through a gestor. There is an admin fee, which for a "normal" vehicle is 8€, for a moped with a yellow plate, most charges are cheaper. If done through a gestor, he/she will charge extra of course.

By the way, if you don't do the "Baja" you can still ignore the ITV as long as it is off the road, but you will still legally need insurance and pay the road tax as these are not dependent on the vehicle being used on the public highway.
