I currently live in jeddah, Saudi Arabia and would like to buy a house in England. I have heard from some people that I can get a regular motgage but others say I need an expat mortgage, therefore a larger deposit. Any advice? :)

Have you lived in UK for any length of time? Your profile suggests you are from UK but are currently living in Saudi Arabia.

Whether you get a UK mortgage or not depends on your creditworthiness, and lenders assess it by looking at your credit file, plus your residence and income. If you are on a good salary in Saudi Arabia, some lenders may be interested but under current financial crisis, mortgage criteria are tough and expat mortgage, when offered, has high interest.

Ask your bank if they will consider giving you a mortgage loan, or get in touch with a reputable mortgage intermediaryor or advisor.
