Hi all,
Does anyone have any good info or advice regarding using a migration agent?
Have just got our first quote of nearly £1600 plus vat. Don't know if this is average or should I be searching round for better quotes?? Do they actually do that much to justify paying them that much? Am so confused please help!! x

Hi Tash,

If you do a search for agents then you'll see that this has been discussed before. The costs and whether or not to use agents at all.

We wouldn't be here if it wasn't for the help of an agent since our case wasn't straight forward. If your case is straight forward then you can do it yourself.

Regards,
Karen

Hi Tash,

I had a quote this morning from a company which was £2,400. They didnt say plus tax, so I'm assuming its all in. I intend to do more shopping around before I make any decisions are this is the only quote I have had so far.

If you should get a good agent please could you let me know, likewise I will do the same for you.

Thanks Nic

Hi Tash,

No i dont think your being nosey at all, bless you. I am 31, married with 2 children and plan to actually be in Australia no later than Nov 2012. Im a registered nurse so I will be the main name on the application. Want to move to Adelaide. I havent applied yet so theres not much i can really say at the moment. That quote i mentioned of £2.400 is plus vat unfortunately. I have tracked down a lady who is a registered agent living in Adelaide and she said she would do it for a flat fee of $3000 AUD. Im not sure if i will use an agent yet though, i am going to do some research first before i decide. My brother in law lives in cananda and he done all his forms himself. It would be nice to avoid the stress but at least i can keep on top of what im doing. I was told it is approx 12 to 15 months for the visa to process, and then you have to be in Aus within a year, but because i am a nurse this is fastracked and they like you to go before the year is ending. Im just not sure when to apply, i really want to go but am nervous.

take care, nic

Hi

We used a company called australian visa specialists Australian Migration and Australian Visa Specialists

We only used them for the application to the Australian Computer Society to have my skills assessed as that was the tricky part, I had to get a reference from my employer that covered everything that they were looking for. Other than that it was easy enough and with the help on this site you should be able to get through all the other stuff. If your skills assessment and everything else is straight forward you shouldnt have to many problems.

Danny.

Hi, Im fairly new to it all but have read that it is more than realistic to do a lot yourself. No idea how much effort is required however. Best of luck
