Hi Guys,

Need some advice, if one is suffering from seasonal flu, fever, and throat infection  will it affect the medical outcome . . .

What you guys suggest . . . should we go with the current condition or get them postponed :help:

Hi Wasee,

I doubt as I have read over quite a few places that Aussies are very keen observers of TB and throat infection may cause delays in the medical finalization . . . Better need some senior pro and moderator comment over it as it is a last and a mandatory step :fingerscrossed:

Folks,

what all tests are taken as part of medical.

I am bit overweight and higher on the cholesterol.

Would that be any issue on my medicals ?

hi PkBlr,

Tests: Blood test, chest X rays, & general

Guess keep a lean diet for now onwards, walk half an hour daily so that cholesterol LDL & HDL are in limits . . . prevention is better than cure :D

I take it.
They are not going to test anything in blood other than hiv.
Moreover explain to doctor that you have some throat infection so you tske medicine

Guys, not only Australia but all other countries, they only focus on transmitted disease. Don’t worry about seasonal cold and flu. They will not going to test that part. They will ask you if you have any health issues. Please don’t speak about seasonal cold and all. Let them do there job :)

Hi PkBlr,

you can take a look at the Panel Doctors Instructions, which is the guide DIBP provides to doctors on how to conduct and assess the medicals. To quote the section on weight:

BMI Grading:
A-Grade: Stable weight, or obesity without complications
B-grade: Unexplained weight loss, or obesity with complications known or suspected. Provide details, relevant test results, and estimation of treatment needs.
B-graded applicants with known or suspected complications of obesity should be referred to a specialist physician for further assessment. Complications may include hypertension, joint disease, cardiac disease and diabetes. The specialist’s assessment should address physical examination findings, the nature and severity of complications, general mobility, need for surgery, level of independence and expected prognosis.
You should not have to worry.

Cheers,
Monika
