Hi,

My brother is thinking of moving to Oz.
He would be the main applicant.

He's a mechanical enginner with lots of experience in staff training and problem resolution, he's kind of Dr. House of the car world.

Questions:

1. Where can he apply for skills assessments to be recognised by Oz standards?
2. Visa wise which visas are being processed faster?

Thanks.

Well the good new is that Mechanical Engineer is currently on the Critical Skills List. This means his application for 175 visa could be complete in 6-12 months (my unofficial estimate).

He will need to get his skills assessed through Engineers Australia:

Engineers Australia Ι Migration Skills Assessment

Technically the 176 will be processed faster if he has state sponsorship, but because he is on the CSL the 175 won't take much longer, and it would benefit him to not be tied down to one particular state, so I would recommend the 175 visa in this case.
