We have been in Alberta 10 years moving from Poole, Dorset in 2005. In many ways we love it here, the camping, the mountains, the wide open spaces, we have certainly prospered financially, but its not home and I'm not sure it ever will be. Yea, sure all the above is good but we miss the connection with the British Culture, the arts, the history and the more middle class life style which we both find more agreeable to our values and world view.

We have both found it very difficult to connect with Canadian people at more than a superficial level. We are obviously aware that Alberta is a blue collar and frontier province, I think its just too far removed from the world we know. This week we are spending a few days in BC around Chilliwack & Abbotsford to see if a move there would be more culturally comfortable for us.
