My husband and I will be moving to London in September, and I am trying to find information on what kind of maternity coverage is available for American expats.
My husband will be in the U.K. on a "representative of an overseas business" visa, and I will be a dependent on a spouse visa. We will both be paying the health surcharge.
If I become pregnant in the U.K. do I have to wait any amount of time before I will be covered for maternity care and delivery by the NHS? Should I be looking into private maternity insurance or do most private insurances have a waiting period as well? I am having a hard time finding out answers for expats for pregnancy and maternity coverage on the nhs website! Tia!!
