Hello there,

Can I visit my wife with "Visa for Marriage Visitor" after our marriage?

I've asked the officer of airport border agency last time when I went to UK for our wedding. He said that I can visit my wife even after our wedding without applying a new one because my current visa allows "Multiple Entries".

But I'm still afraid because it is described as "This visa entitles holders to visit the UK for up to a maximum of six (6) months allowing them to marry or enter into a civil partnership in the UK and they may be allowed multiple entries during the six (6) month period." on official website. Does it mean I can only enter UK for marriage activities?

If my understanding is correct, should I apply for a new "Visa for General Visitors" or just listen to the officer?

Thanks very much!!!

This is a grey area. While strictly speaking, marriage visitor visa is meant for getting married in UK and then leave afterwards, but I know the immigration officer usually allows re-entry after marriage within the visa's validity. So you are probably safe in attempting re-entry, but a fussy officer can give you a hard time. Make sure you have all your documents about your plan for leaving UK for home (return flight), adequate finance and strong ties in China, such as a job.
