Hi, am heading down to the Jura this summer and want to rent a property.am thinking of just doing this locally one I have found a nice place to spend the time in, as I have never been to the region. Would be interested to here from anyone with ideas as to great places and how you go about finding a place to rent. Am thinking of a semi rural place near to a town

all depends dear

hello

The Jura region spans over 3 French departements:
- Doubs 25 up North
- Jura 39
- Ain 01 south

The climate and landscape can show variety
- deep dark valleys or lake
- nice bright upper region, Swiss postcard type
- lower hills
- vineyards
- flat plains

Plenty of nice towns to recommend and many to avoid.
My advice: take a 4-6 week trip south to north or vice-versa, and test all region after you have fixed your search criteria and budget
- large big farmhouse
- small chalet
- flat
- others
Camping is nice and abundant sites during testing period.

You can test, spending 4 to 5 days in each location to detect what you like/dislike. In the Jura you'd need a car to go to work, or a snowmobile in some places. Winter can be extremely cold (-25 celsius) or extremely damp of foggy. The higher you go, the colder it is but the more sun you get, even in winter.

It is my favourite region in France.... It is unfortunately losing its population in rural areas. But much more space for others....
