Hi,

I am just wondering if anyone knows whether the French consulate in Sydney (or France in general) imposes a limit on the number of French long stay visas that are allocated each year.

I.e. can you miss out simply because there are no more to go around or is it completely dependent upon your own particular circumstances and application?

As far as I know, there is no limit on the number of long stay visas issued - at least not at the national level. (Or if there is, they don't admit to it.)

OTOH, the Consulate officials are granted a rather wide range of "discretion" so that they can turn down a visa application for virtually no reason at all if they "have a bad feeling" about an applicant.
Cheers,
Bev
