Just wondering. Do you have to leave and re-enter to renew visa or can u stay there indefinately as long as you renew on a regular basis?

For residence, the new visa processed while you are here, no need to leave.

For a visit visa, you have to leave and re-enter. Depending on the nationality, you may be able to do visa runs (if you receive a visa on arrival) or else have to leave the country for a set period

Thank you, I meant residence visa. Thank you so much for the reply. I do have another question though, if I have a residence visa do I need a work visa. I think I know the answer but not sure.

Generally for a residence visa you have to be sponsored by an employer, so either you are someone sponsoring you (husband less common and more difficult wife) has to be working. It is possible to buy a residence visa by owning property, not sure what the value of the property needs to be (a lot)
