Dear Sir,

I have read somewhere on this forum that 457 visa grant timing also depends on the date of commencement of the proposed job with the nominating employer. For example, if the date of commencement is 1st May 2015, then the visa will not be granted before 3rd April 2015 (a time period of 28 days before the commencement of the Job). Is this information true?

Can anyone with a better knowledge shed some light on this?

I don't think this is the case. (I've never seen one and I've processed over 600 457's). Once a visa is granted its valid on that day. If you want to avoid the situation just put commencement date as "subject to a 457 visa being granted"
